B Cavello is a technology and facilitation expert focused on empowering people to participate in technological and social governance. As Director of Emerging Technologies at Aspen Digital, a program of the Aspen Institute, they lead Responsible Innovation initiatives that help policymakers and communities understand the opportunities and tradeoffs of artificial intelligence. Their work bridges policy, research, and public engagement, supporting ethical AI governance at both national and international levels. B Cavello previously advised Senator Ron Wyden on privacy, internet governance, and algorithmic accountability through the Congressional Innovation Fellowship, and led research at the Partnership on AI on issues such as fairness, transparency, and AI’s impact on labor. Their experience also spans industry and civil society, including roles at IBM Watson and Metagov, where they contribute to advancing participatory approaches to AI governance and responsible technology development.

Joshua Tan leads product and strategy at Public AI and is co-founder and Research Director at Metagov, a laboratory focused on engineering institutions for the digital age. His work explores the intersection of artificial and collective intelligence, with a focus on how governance models, technical systems, and collaborative structures can support the development of public-interest AI. Drawing on a multidisciplinary background spanning computer science, law, and policy, Joshua applies advanced mathematical approaches, including category theory and sheaf theory, to the design of complex intelligent systems and the governance of online communities. He completed his PhD and postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford and has held fellowships at Stanford, Princeton, and MIT, and taught at Harvard Law School and Carnegie Mellon’s policy school. His research, supported by organizations including the NSF and Ford Foundation, focuses on building practical frameworks for implementing public AI that is transparent, participatory, and institutionally grounded.

Maximilian Gahntz is AI Policy Lead at Mozilla, where he leads global work on AI governance, open-source AI, transparency, and accountability. His work focuses on advancing public-interest approaches to building and implementing AI systems that are open, competitive, and aligned with democratic values. At Mozilla, he works on policy frameworks that support responsible AI deployment while strengthening public digital infrastructure and oversight. Before joining Mozilla, Maximilian was a Mercator Fellow on International Affairs, contributing to the development of the EU’s AI Act at the European Commission. His background in AI regulation, data governance, and platform accountability informs his perspective on how governments and institutions can translate policy into practical implementation. Through his work, Maximilian explores how open innovation models and collaborative governance can help build public AI systems that are transparent, trustworthy, and accessible at scale.

Albert Cañigueral is an explorer, consultant, author and speaker around the impacts of technology in society. He currently works at Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) as the AI Factory one-stop shop manager. Before his current position, he was the Artificial Intelligence and Language Technologies (AI/LT) coordination and development manager. Between 2021 and 2022, he served as Director General for Open Data, Transparency and Collaboration at the Government of Catalonia, and from 2012 to 2021 he led the Ouishare network across Spain and Latin America. He is the author of El trabajo ya no es lo que era (Conecta, 2020) and co-creator of the documentary Ciudad en Beta (Createl, 2022). Always bridging research, innovation and society.

Simona Levi is a technopolitical strategist, researcher, and activist specializing in digital rights and democratic governance in the age of artificial intelligence. As founder of Xnet, the Institute for Democratic Digitalisation, she develops civic frameworks that promote transparency, accountability, and democratic oversight of digital and AI systems. Her work focuses on the risks and opportunities that emerging technologies present for democratic societies, including digital sovereignty, public digital infrastructure, systemic disinformation, and freedom of expression. Levi advises European institutions and civil society organizations on policy and governance approaches that protect public interest while enabling innovation. She also directs the Postgraduate Course in Technopolitics and Rights in the Digital Era at the University of Barcelona, contributing to critical debate on AI governance. Named by Rolling Stone as one of 25 people shaping the future, she is the author of Democratic Digitalisation: Digital Sovereignty for the People and Fake You.

Migle Laukyte is a legal scholar whose work examines how artificial intelligence, robotics, and other disruptive technologies challenge legal systems and reshape concepts of rights, autonomy, and responsibility. Her research explores the intersection of AI, human rights, and legal philosophy, focusing on agency, personhood, technology ethics, and the evolving limits of rights in digitally mediated societies. At Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), she teaches courses on law and technological disruption, serves on the Research Commission, and has coordinated the PhD Program in Law since 2022. She is currently serving a second mandate (2025–2028) on the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies, advising the European Commission on emerging technology ethics. Migle is also a member of the Directive Board of the “Gregorio Peces-Barba” Institute of Human Rights and sits on the editorial board of Derechos y Libertades.
